Forensic Bureau Moves to an Emergency Mode of Operation

LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau moves to an emergency mode of operation due to Covide-19 pandemic. Due to declaration coronavirus outbreak as a global pandemic by the World Health Organization and in accordance with the recommendations made public by the Government of Georgia, from 1 April 2020 National Forensic Bureau will provide alcohol test only by blood analysis.

Another success of the Department of Chemical-Drug Expertise

The Unit of Forensic Chemistry and Toxicology at the Department of Chemical and Narcological Examination of Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau, participated in the proficiency testing organized by European Directorate for The Quality of Medicines & HealthCare (EDQM), STRASBOURG. In December 2019, the National Forensic Bureau received a sample for analysis from the working group of Standardization Department, Strasbourg. Specifically, "NALIDIXIC ACID TABLETS", along with the corresponding standard sample and Pharmacopoeial method were provided for the professional testing. The purpose of the testing was to do quantitative estimation of pharmacologically active ingredient component of these tablets - nalidixic acid - by liquid-chromatographic / diode detection method and to statistically process the obtained data. Samples were sent to 132 laboratories in Europe to participate in the test, of which results were obtained from 117 laboratories.

International Conference in Anthropology to be Held in Tbilisi

Leri Barnabishvili, Head of LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau, delivered an opening speech at the international conference organized by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). The topic of the conference was “Strengthening Efforts to Identify Missing Persons and the Needs of Their Families". Along with Georgian experts, forensic pathologists from USA, Europe and the Middle East, who have experience working with remains of people gone missing, participate In the conference. The main goal of the conference is to provide platform for sharing current experience, strategies and practical knowledge, also to develop recommendations for forensic activities in the national as well as international level.

Delegation of Kyrgyz Republic visits Bureau

Leri Barnabishvili, Head of LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau hosted Mukhasojaev Akilbek Abdildaevich, Director of the State Forensic Service of Kyrgyz Republic, also various executives and experts of the Kyrgyz Forensic Service. Coordinator of the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) and UN National Coordinator in the Kyrgyz Republic also attended the meeting who are directly involved in the process of obtaining international accreditation for the Kyrgyz Bureau of Expertise. Future co-operation plans were discussed, under which Kyrgyz colleagues will receive consultation by Bureau experts in terms of receiving international accreditation
