Working visit to USA

In the autumn 2017, Head of the Histology Unit of the Forensic Medicine Department of LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau, Maia Gogitauri and experts Ketevan Bedenashvili, Alex Kvezereli and Mamuka Metreveli visited Investigation Bureau of Georgia (GBI) within the framework of their working visit to the United State of America. 

During the visit, the Georgian delegation from the Bureau had an opportunity of learning the investigation principles established at GBI, administrative issues, operation of laboratories equipped to modern standards and case analysis. 

November 4 – Forensics Day

On November 4, 2017 LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau marked the 13th anniversary of the Forensics Day. The Forensic Day is an established tradition wherein the best experts are granted respective awards.  The Bureau is accredited by ISO 17025 international standard and is a full-fledged member of the European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI). In addition to many other types of examinations, the Bureau offers its expertise in the fields of real-estate evaluation, construction-engineering, pharmaceuticals, food, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, tobacco, chemical-necrology, DNA, computer, oil and gas, medicine, etc. 

Open Door Day for Journalists

On November 2, 2017, LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau hosted a delegation of journalists in commemoration of the Forensic Day. The invited journalists had a rare opportunity of visiting laboratories of Forensic Medicine Department and observe examination processes. 

The Bureau marks the 13th anniversary and each year it launches public awareness raising about the services it offers, including but not limited to chemical-narcology, food, oil and gas, DNA, engineering, commodity and other fields of expertise.

Success of the Bureau in international test

In August 2017, Food and Tobacco Products, Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic Beverages Examination Unit of LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau participated in international test along with 130 laboratories across the world. The test was organized by worldwide laboratory testing services Eurofins Scientific.

The test aimed at identifying qualitative and quantitative content of non-pathogenic micro-organisms in children’s food.
