Colleagues from Armenia visited Bureau

Argam Hovsepyan, Director of National Bureau of Expertise of the Republic of Armenia and Patvakan Voskanyan, Deputy director of National Bureau of Expertise of the Republic of Armenia visited LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau. Colleagues from Armenia visited DNA, substances, materials and goods and oil laboratories equipped with up-to-date technologies and got acquainted with the specificity of forensic activities and novelties introduced in the Bureau.

Bureau Celebrated 15th Anniversary

On 4 November 2019 LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau marked its 15th anniversary. Traditionally, a solemn reception was held at the Bureau, where successful experts of the Bureau from all areas of forensic science were awarded. Bureau is the only forensic institution in the region which has an international accreditation, performing such significant forensic examinations as DNA, paternity test, breast cancer and thrombophilia genetic tests, forensic structural engineering, valuation of movable and immovable property, forensic narcology and toxicology, food, tobacco, beverages examination, computer examination, oil products examination, etc.

Soxhlet Apparatus R 106 S purchased by Bureau

In September 2019, Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau purchased a new Soxhlet device for Food, Tobacco, Alcoholic and Non-Alcohol Beverages Examination Unit. The Soxhlet apparatus is used for extracting fat from a variety of foods. R 104 S Soxhlet Extractor is a device designed by a leading German company Behr Labor-Technik. The unit enables a parallel analysis of 6 samples which significantly speeds up the process of analysis. After the extraction cycle the system regenerates the solvent, which reduces the cost of reagents in the process of examination and the likelihood of environmental pollution. Food, Tobacco, Alcoholic and Non-Alcohol Beverages Examination laboratory of Bureau is accredited in accordance with ISO17025. The Bureau constantly equips its laboratories with up-to-date devices, paying close attention to the training of staff so that customers can receive unparallel and high-quality service.

EU experts visited Bureau

Within the framework of the EU-funded ongoing project - CyberEast, Esher George, expert of Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) of Britain, Mairus Cuciurianu, cybercrime expert of Romanian police and Giorgi Jokhadze, cybercrime programme officer and project manager of the CyberEast project, visited LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau. Tamar Melashvili, Head of Administration of Bureau, acquainted European experts with the specifics of the Bureau's activities, while Roland Makhmudov, Head of Information Technology and Computer Examination Department, delivered a presentation on IT Department activities.
