Kyrgyz delegation visited the Bureau

On July 17, 2018, Head of LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau Giorgi Tvauri hosted Kyrgyz government and parliament members.

The guests visited Chemical-narcological, criminalistics and biology (DNA) examination laboratories equipped with   advanced technologies and highly qualified experts employed. They were acquainted   in details with the specification of the functioning of the bureau, implemented innovations and modern methods of expertize.
Within the frames of the visit they talked about ongoing projects and future cooperation plans.

A new Mitochondrial DNA Laboratory of the Bureau

On May 19, 2014, LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau inaugurated a new Mitochondrial DNA Laboratory.

Head of the Bureau, Giorgi Tvauri, Minister of Justice, Tea Tsulikiani, Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Regions and Refugees, Davit Darakhvelidze and other representatives of the government, as well as, the representatives of the Prosecutor’s Office and US Embassy attended the opening ceremony. 
Forensic DNA examination is one of the leading fields of the National Forensics Bureau and its laboratory is furnished with the latest equipments. 

Participation of the Bureau in the International Conference

On May 22-24, 2018, Annual International Conference of Drugs Working Group organized by the European Network of Forensic Institutions (ENFSI) was held in Portugal, city of Lisbon. 

The main topic of discussion at the conference was extension of new narcotic and psychoactive substances on the black market of Europe.
More than 100 of experts form leading laboratories of Europe attended the conference.  Paata Tushurashvili, head of Forensic Chemistry Department of LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau presented a case of GHB poisoning in Georgia at the conference.

LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau makes statement, following the comments on TV Pirveli program "Reaction" on May 10, regarding the forensic medical examination of Archil Tatunashvili. 

Firstly, death of Archil Tatunashvili is a tragedy for every expert of the Bureau as it is for the citizens of Georgia. 
We would like to give explanations regarding the examination procedures. The public has been frequently interested, especially in resonance cases, regarding the absence of “primary” or "intermediate" medical examination reports.
