Success in International Testing

Forensic Chemical-Toxic Unit of the Chemical-Narchology Department participated in the Qualification test organized by the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines and Healthcare (EDQM). 

In June of 2016, the National Forensic Bureau received Amoxicillin trihydrate and sodium aminosalicylate dehydrate samples from the Strasbourg working group of standardization department. The Unit was tasked to evaluate the moistness following the methodology requirements and conduct statistical examination of the sample. The same samples were provided to other 115 laboratories across Europe, 110 of which delivered results. 

The Bureau identified bodies of 25 militaries deceased on the territory of Abkhazia

LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau identified 25 more bodies of militaries fighting for the territorial integrity of Georgia and heroically deceased in Abkhazia. The burial ceremony shall be conducted on 17th of October, 2017 at the Brotherhood cemetery. 

Among the identified heroes are Colonel of Security Services of Georgia, Mamia Alasania; Mayor of Sokhumi, Guram Gabiskiria; Members of the Ministers Cabinet of Abkhazia ArShel Shengelia, Vakhtang Gegelashvili and their fellow soldiers, who defended the High Council of Sokhumi until the end and sacrificed their lives to the integrity and freedom of Georgia. 

Bureau is successfully re-accredited

LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau has successfully undergone a repeated accreditation process. 

The Bureau was first accredited by ISO 17025 international standard in August 2013, which was valid for five years in line with the accreditation regulations. Throughout this time the Bureau ensured strict and consistent Quality Control Monitoring. 
LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau was established on November 4, 2004. Since its foundation, the Bureau has been serving State Institutions, Private and commercial entities, as well as physical persons. The Bureau also operates internationally.

Forensic Chemical-Toxicology Examination Unit of LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau annually participates in international tests organized by European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI) and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and maintains the leading positions among top laboratories across the world.  

In January 2017, 89 laboratories of 44 countries submitted results within the framework of the international test organized by UNODC. The test aimed at evaluating credibility of laboratories internationally.
