Head of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation of the United States visited Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau

On 4th of July, 2016, Head of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation of the United States paid a visit to the LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau. Head of the National Forensics Bureau Giorgi Tvauri hosted the US delegation and presented the modern equipped laboratories of the Forensic Medicine. The US delegation received the first-hand information about the exercised methodology and work carried out at the laboratories. 

Success of the Chemical-Toxicological Unit of the Bureau

Chemical-Toxicological Unit of the Chemical-Narcotics Department of the Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau participated in the qualification test organized by the European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines and Healthcare (EDQM), in Strasbourg. 

In the beginning of 2016, Forensic National Bureau received “Melissa leaf dry extract” samples from Strasbourg. The test required quantitative assessment of the Rosemarie acid –used in pharmaceutics-in the provided sample. The Bureau was also requested to provide detailed report on applied methodology and statics of the results.  117 labs throughout Europe participated in the testing and only 111 of them submitted test results. 

Induction Day for Students

On 8-10 June, 2016 LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau welcomed students of the Law Department of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. Within the framework of the training the students had an opportunity to get acquainted with ultra-modern equipment in the Criminal Forensic Department and DNA labs. The students were introduced to the work of the department and novelties of the Bureau. During three days, in addition to theoretical knowledge, students participated in trial examinations together with experts of the Bureau. The training was organized within the frames of a Memorandum signed between the Bureau and the University. Organizers of the training a letter of appreciation for productive cooperation. The National Forensic Bureau is ready to continue cooperation with students and boost their interest towards Forensics.

On May 30, 2016, LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau welcomed English language students of the Pharmacy Faculty of Tbilisi State Medical University. Students from Iraq will get acquainted with work performed at the Chemical-Toxicological Unit of the Bureau and will be introduced to the modern lab equipment. 

The Labs of the Bureau are equipped with unique material-technical base, where highly qualified experts perform various types of expertise on a daily basis. 
The study visit was organized based on the Memorandum signed between the Bureau and the University.
