
Bela Gabitashvili, Head of International Relations and Quality Control Unit of LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau, took part in a virtual training conference organized by the Association of Forensic Quality Assurance Managers (AFQAM).
Presentations delivered at the training-conference focused on the improvement of quality management system, successful implementation of the updated requirements of the international standard ISO/IEC 17025, and sharing the experience of various international laboratories.
It is noteworthy that in 2020 the Bureau successfully passed the monitoring in accordance with the requirements of the updated standard ISO 17025-2018 and has moved on to the new standard.
AFQAM is an authoritative organization with many years of experience, whose activities aim to strengthen and develop the quality of forensic management. Honorary members of the organization are the United States and federal law enforcement agencies, the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), as well as accreditation bodies, namely the American Laboratory Accreditation Association (A2LA) and the American National Accreditation Board (ANAB).
The International Relations and Quality Control Unit participates in the conference on annual basis.
Bureau is a full member of the European Network of Forensic Institutions (ENFSI) – one of the most recognized international organization in the field of forensics. The Bureau is a leading forensic institution in the region carrying out more than 500 types of forensic investigations.
The Bureau is accredited in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 Standard. The quality control system implemented in the Bureau ensures the accuracy, validity and trustworthiness of examination results.
