The Forensic Chemistry and Toxicology Unit of the Department of Chemical and Narcological Examination at the National Forensic Bureau has participated in the proficiency testing organized by European Directorate for The Quality of Medicines & HealthCare (EDQM), STRASBOURG.

In July 2020, the National Forensic Bureau received a sample for analysis from the working group of Standardization Department, Strasbourg. Specifically, the samples included "Asparagine Monohydrate, Histidine Hydrochloride Monohydrate ".  The purpose of the testing was to measure humidity in the samples in accordance with indicated methodology and to statistically process data obtained from the analysis.

Along with the Bureau, 106 European laboratories took part in the proficiency testing.  According to a report from Strasbourg, 88% of the European laboratories passed the test successfully.

The extensive report received from Strasburg provides an in-depth evaluation of test results, as well as standard procedures used in the testing by the participating laboratories.

The main criterion for statistical evaluation of the proficiency testing - Z-score< 2 has demonstrated that the Unit of Forensic Chemistry and Toxicology successfully passed the test again, and received first category evaluation from European Directorate for the Quality of Medicines (EDQM), Strasbourg.

The Forensic Chemistry and Toxicology Unit at the Department of Chemical and Narcological Examination of National Forensic Bureau has been participating in proficiency tests (ENFSI, UNODC) since 2010 on annual basis and has always occupied top positions. According to the data of the current year, as well as the results of tests conducted across Europe and statistical evaluation of the analysis results, the National Forensic Bureau is among leading laboratories. The obtained results indicate high qualification of the Bureau experts, application of valid methods and compliance to international standards.
