Nino Kochiashvili, head of the Department of Forensic Biology and Nino Phirtskhelani, Forensic Biologist, at the Department of Forensic Biology of LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau, participated in online conference ‘The First International Scientific Practical Online Conference Human Genetics and Genetic Diseases: Problems and Development Perspective’ which was organized by the Azerbaijani Medical University. The conference was held on 30-31 May 2020 and, along with Georgian specialists, 95 representatives from medical and biological sciences took part in the conference. The participants discussed mechanisms of diseases, prospects of their treatment and the role of human genetics in criminology.
Participants from the Department of Forensic Biology, presented thematic papers at the conference (Nino Kochiashvili - "Human Genetics in Forensic Science" and Nino Pirtskhelani - "The contribution of genetic testing to medicine - the experience of Georgia"), based on the results obtained at the Bureau through grant projects, as well as forensic research activities.
