Charge daffaires of Spain visited the Bureau

On June 29, 2017 Charge d Affaires of Spain, Mr. Victor Vicente Murcia Garzón, visited LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau. 

The Charge had a tour in the Departments of Chemical-Narcology, Criminalistics, oil/fuel/petroleum products, consumer products and DNA Laboratories which are furnished by ultra-modern equipment; and got acquainted with forensic studies that are conducted in compliance with modern methods. 
The sides discussed ongoing projects and future cooperation at the meeting. 

Statement of the Forensic Bureau

On June 27, TV Company Iberia aired a story about the body that was discovered in the so-called “Tabelmanebi” forest of the village Melauri, Samtredia region. Levan Samkharauli Bureau was pointed to with reference of the organization that had conducted a medical expertise and identified the body. 

LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau further states:
On January 30, 2015, Forensic Regional Department of West Georgia of the Bureau was addressed by the regional office of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) with a request on medical expertise of a body belonging to the person named Viacheslav Briushkov. 

Success of the Petroleum Laboratory of the Bureau

In spring of 2017, Department of the Petroleum Forensic Laboratory successfully completed the International Qualification Test certified by the Institute of Interlaboratory Studies (ILS) of the Netherlands and received a Certificate of Excellence. 

ILS is an independent organization, which conducts interlaboratory studies in various fields (certificate tests, cross checks, joint control) for Analytical Laboratories of more than 100 Member States. 
ILS submitted an unknown sample of bitumen. The Bureau conducted its study and the concluded results received highest 

Bureau achieves success in international testing

In spring of 2017, Department of Forensic Chemical-Narcology and Unit of Substance, Material, Workmanship and Plants of the LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau attained significant success in the interlaboratory testing organized by NEFSI. 

The test offered six types of colored fabric and tasked the participants to identify the fiber nature and identify possible interrelation (interrelated origins). More than 20 World Leading Laboratories took the test. The samples were processed by the participating organizations. Experts of the Levan Samkharauli Bureau were among those with most precise results and the Laboratory gained one of the leading positions among the world laboratories.
