General Information About the LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau
LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau was established on November 4, 2004. The Bureau is a government forensic agency, a Legal Entity under the Public Law and its operation is regulated by a government decree and other respective normative acts.
The Bureau provides its services to the State and Budgetary agencies; to private, commercial and non-commercial institutions, as well as to physical and legal entities/persons.
The bureau exploits a fixed payment system, approved by a government decree of Georgia.
The bureau performs complete independent examination services in the following fields:
- Technical Examination of Documents, Handwriting and Signature Examination;
- Ballistic Examination;
- Trace Examination;
- Fingerprints Examination;
- Auto-tech, vehicles-tech, auto-commodity, aircraft and railway technical examination;
- Computer, Video and Phonoscopic Examination
- Fire-technical Examination;
- Financial Examination;
- Construction and Engineering Technical Examination;
- Commodity Examination;
- General Chemistry Examination;
- Narcological, Toxicological and Drugs Examination
- Food (including baby nutrition), Tobacco, Alcohol and Non-Alcohol Beverages Examination

- Medical Examination
- Psychiatric and Psychology Examination

The Bureau is equipped with ultra-modern laboratories of international standards. The Bureau is accredited in compliance with the ISO17025 standards and operates in line with international forensic practice. The Bureau is a member of the European Network of Forensic Science Institutions (ENFSI), the leading international forensic organization.
The bestowed accreditations testify that the quality system of the bureau is a guarantee of accuracy and high standards of examination quality – a foundation of customers’ trust towards the Bureau. The statistics demonstrate, that the Bureau serves up to 40 000 customers on annual basis.
The operation of the Bureau encompasses more than 436 traditional and nontraditional examinations. The Bureau employs more than 400 qualified professionals, who are consistently trained and updated in various world leading forensic organizations/institutions.
The Bureau actively cooperates with leading and successful forensic and Training Centers, namely: Netherlands Forensic Institute (NFI), Istanbul Council of Forensic Medicine (ATK), The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI), Gendarmerie Forensic Department of Turkey (JKDB), Justice Institute of British Columbia of Canada, etc.
For Laboratory Monitoring purposes, the Bureau regularly participates in international laboratory tests and continues maintaining leading positions in compliance with the test results.
In parallel with advancing the examination quality, the Bureau has developed and further improved its customer services. The Bureau has introduced examination time-frames and made the service considerably time-efficient and effective. The Bureau’s each office offers a one window principle by that the Bureau simplifies the service delivery against the backdrop of increased demand.
