Success of the Food Laboratory

In May 2015, Food and Tobacco Products, Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic Beverages Examination Unit of the LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau participated in a qualification test, organized by the National Institute of Great Britain.  LGC is an independent organization that conducts more than 40 types of inter-laboratory tests worldwide.


The Food Unit participated in the inter-laboratory testing of dairy products. Experts were provided an unknown sample of milk powder wherein physical and chemical indicators were identified. Experts yet again delivered accurate results of examination and reaffirmed their high professionalism.

DNA Laboratory gets awarded by European Certificate

DNA Laboratory -accredited by ISO17025 – of the Forensic Biology Department of Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau, participated in two international qualification tests (external audit): forensic DNA typing in the year 2014. 


In March 2015, by a joint decision of the GEDNAP and Evaluation Commission of DNA Qualification International Testing Institute, DNA Laboratory of Levan Samkharauli Forensic National Bureau was grouped in the Group 1 for the excellent results it has produced. 

American experts at the Department of Forensic Medicine

On May 19, 2015 Head of the LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau Giorgi Tvauri hosted Heads of US Law enforcement and Forensic agencies, State Georgia, the representatives of the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) of the 

US Embassy of Georgia at the Department of Forensic Medicine.

Head of the Bureau invited his American colleagues to the induction tour around the Bureau and informed the guests about the modern methodologies applied in the Bureau. 

ENFSI DNA Working Group Meeting

In April-May 2015, Head of the Forensic Biology Department of Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau, Nino Kochiashvili was invited to CODIS (DNA-Database) Conference and ENFSI DNA working group meeting in Denmark. ENFSI - European Network of Forensic Science Institutions monitors laboratories of its member forensic institutions from various countries of Europe.


Forensic DNA Department of the Medical Faculty of the Copenhagen University hosted the meeting this year.
