
Vakhtang Kargareteli, First Deputy Head of LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau, met with representatives of the GREVIO Independent Expert Group responsible for monitoring the implementation of the Council of Europe Convention on Preventing and Combating Violence against Women and Domestic Violence.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the rules and procedures guiding the Bureau in performing forensic medical and psychiatric examinations of women victims of violence. The members of the monitoring team also got acquainted with the procedures of examining women, especially conducting examination of such vulnerable groups as women with disabilities, members of ethnic minorities, migrant women and others.
LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau is committed to international standards, introduces innovation in the examination process and provides training for experts in different forensic fields.
In the recent past, in cooperation with the Office of the Public Defender of Georgia and the Council of Europe, experts of the Bureau participated in the training on "Forensic Medical Examination of Victims of Sexual Violence" and got acquainted with the approaches and standards implemented in international practice.
