On 21-26 October, 2021 in cooperation with the Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau, the Office of the Public Defender of Georgia and the Council of Europe Office in Georgia, training was held for medical forensic experts of the Bureau on the topic: "On forensic medical examination of victims of sexual violence."

Forensic medical examination plays an important role in the administration of criminal justice in criminal cases. When conducting these types of examinations, special care should be taken towards victims of sexual violence in order to avoid secondary victimization.

In order to get acquainted with international standards and implement them in practice, medical forensic experts of the National Forensic Bureau passed a full training course and got acquainted with the approaches and standards in international practice. In particular: human rights and criminal law standards regarding the forensic examination of victims of sexual violence; The psychological aspects of sexual violence against adult and juvenile; addressing special needs in LGBTQI victims - the vulnerability of the victim LGBTQI individuals and medical forensic examination.

The quality control system implemented at the Bureau ensures the accuracy, validity and trustworthiness of examination results.
