In October 2020, Oil Products Examination Unit at the Department of Chemical and Narcological Examination, LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau participated in a proficiency testing.

The testing was organized by the Institute For Interlaboratory Studies, Netherlands (IIS), which is an independent organization providing various types of interlaboratory studies (qualification tests, cross-examination, joint control) for analytical laboratories in more than 100 participating countries.

The Institute for Interlaboratory Studies (IIS) provided an unknown sample of hydraulic oil which should have been identified with 10 parameters according to the indicated standards: acid number, copper corrosion, density, closed cup flash point, foaming tendency and foam stability, kinematic viscosity at 40 °C and at 100 °C, viscosity index, temperature of solidification.

These parameters are accredited in accordance with the standard ISO 17025: 2018.

Results of statistical processing of obtained factual results ​​were announced in February 2021. The submitted assessments has demonstrated that the Oil Products Examination Laboratory at the Bureau has received the highest grade and certificate of participation, which confirms the compliance of the latest research methods introduced in the Bureau with international standards and high qualification of experts.

Oil Products Examination Unit at LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau participates in international interlaboratory tests on regular basis. With its results the Bureau maintains leading positions among other forensic institutions.
