Mamuka Jangulashvili, Head of Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau met with State Inspector Londa Toloraia. The meeting was also attended by the Giorgi Gamezardashvili, First Deputy State Inspector and Salome Bakhsoliani, Deputy State Inspector.

The purpose of the meeting was to facilitate coordinated activities between the two institutions and to discuss the prospects of overcoming challenges in practice. The participants of the meeting discussed cooperation between the institutions in investigative activities, as well as personal data protection.

Londa Toloraia noted that in order to ensure high reliability of examination reports, the State Inspector's Office appoints all types of examinations exclusively at LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau. The State Inspector stressed the fact that in recent months, the deadlines of preparing examination reports have been significantly reduced, which significantly facilitates the timely conduct of investigation process.

In parallel with the progress, the focus was on the challenges – the difficulties of conducting commission forensic medical examinations and the need for legislative changes in this area, the availability of medical experts during non-working days and hours, and the timely conduct of medical examinations as part of procedures to prevent the spread of the virus.

Mamuka Jangulashvili, Head of Bureau, and Londa Toloraia, State Inspector, expressed their readiness to organize an extended meeting between the institutions in the nearest future, with the participation of specialists of specific field, where ways of fascinating the relationship between the two institutions will be discussed in detail.

Participants discussed the importance of ensuring a high standard of personal data protection in the activities of the National Forensic Bureau. Given that the Bureau handles large amounts of personal data, including personal health and biometric data, further coordination between the institutions is needed to prevent illegal data processing. In order to ensure the protection of human privacy and personal data, the parties agreed to conduct awareness-raising and other preventive activities.

Effective cooperation between the State Inspector's Office and LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau significantly contributes to and will always contribute to addressing existing challenges.
