LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau, first of all, we would like to express sadness on the tragic passing of Tamar Bachaliashvili and conveys sincerest condolences to the family.
The National Forensic Bureau clarifies that the postmortem examination of the deceased Bachaliashvili has continued at the Department of Forensic Medical Examination of the Bureau until now and is finished now. The examination was conducted by experts from the National Forensic Bureau and a designee from Bachaliashvili’s family attended the process. At this point, the Bureau is ready to hand over the body to the family. The information that the relatives of the deceased asked the Bureau for ice and they were refused is incorrect.
The communication similar to this content has never occurred between the Bureau’s experts and representatives of the family of the deceased. We would like to emphasize that the Department of Forensic Medical Examination of the National Forensic Bureau is equipped with special chambers to preserve a corpse until a decision is made by the family members to transfer the deceased. The Bureau executes these procedures on regular basis. In this case, too, the Bureau is ready to preserve the body of the deceased in a special chamber, before the family expresses readiness to transfer it.
The Bureau is a forensic institution and, neither in this nor in any other case, has the forensic institution used ice or any other kind of so-called funeral accessories.
The Bureau expresses its readiness to act in accordance with requests from the family and to hand the corpse over at any time indicated.
