In October 2019, Food, Tobacco, Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic Beverages Examination Unit at the Department of Forensic Toxicology and Narcology at LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau, participated in the proficiency testing. The testing was organized by the ENFSI Hair and Textile Group. During the testing process, experts of Food, Tobacco, Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic Beverages Examination Unit:

  1. Identified textile fiber composition;
  2. Detected microparticles of foreign fibers from different objects;
  3. Determined types of microparticles of foreign fibers present at various objects;
  4. Determined traces and quantitative indicator of microparticles of intersecting fibers at different objects.

Forty-six leading laboratories around the world participated in the proficiency testing. The results were statistically processed by The ENFSI Textile and Hair Group and the final report was submitted.

In the mentioned test, Bureau’s Chemical-Narcological Expertise Department of the Materials, Products and Plants Examination Division showed 100% of the results of each parameter, as well as the evaluation and interpretation of the results authenticity and reliability.

Food, Tobacco, Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic Beverages Examination Unit at the Department of Forensic Toxicology and Narcology, demonstrated 100 % results in both interpreting and assessment parts. With this outcome, the Bureau confirmed the high accuracy and trustworthiness of its results once again.

The Food, Tobacco, Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic Beverages Examination laboratory proved that it occupies its rightful place among leading laboratories of USA, as well as Europe. Food, Tobacco, Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic Beverages Examination unit  of the Bureau has the only textile laboratory in the region accredited in accordance with ISO17025 which carries out its activities exceptionally based on international standards.
