
Through cooperation among LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Office of the State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality and, remains of another seven civilians killed in August War have been transferred and identified. The remains were handed over to their families today.
Ketevan Tsikhelashvili, the State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civic Equality, attended the process and stated that the process of determining the missing individuals’ whereabouts and identity has been underway for nine years and is implemented with the support of the International Red Cross Committee (ICRC).
With the involvement of State Security Service and by the effort of the International Red Cross Committee (ICRC), the remains were transferred from the occupied Tskhinvali region on 19 March 2019. The grave, which was located in the vicinities of the cemetery of village Tamarasheni, were opened in October, 2017.
