On April 2018, Head of Biological Forensics Department of Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau Nino Kochiashvili, was invited to the CODIS (DNA-Database) Conference and ENFSI Expert DNA Working Group in Italy, Rome. The meeting was hosted by the Department of Security of the Republic of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Italy. 165 DNA experts from 37 countries attended the conference.
Quality Assurance of DNA analyses and implementation of guidelines, throughout Europe is one of the major tasks of the ENFSI Expert DNA Working Group, therefore, the main issues discussed during the meeting were new recommendations in regards with quality assurance, labor and time savings, new protocols, evidence, DNA sample contamination preventions and new method development.
The Bureau expressed its readiness to host ENFSI Expert DNA Working Group Meeting 2019 in Georgia, in case of the approval of Scientific Council.
