ImageLEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau has identified 17 bodies of militaries fighting for the territorial integrity of Georgia and heroically deceased in Abkhazia. The burial ceremony shall be conducted on 15th of September at the Brotherhood cemetery. 
The identification process has been launched since September 2013 with the support of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
DNA experts of the National Forensic Bureau retrieved biological samples of up to 2000 family members of missing soldiers, 600 of which have been already analyzed. 230 genetic portfolios have been processed by financial support of the Forensic Bureau. Another 200 samples are to be finalized by the end of the year. 
Genetic portfolios will be further sent to the Zagreb DNA Laboratory, where they will be compared with the genetic portfolios of the exhumed bodies. 
60 bodies have been identified since the beginning of the project. 
Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau participates in the project since the first day and plans to be actively engaged till its conclusion.
