On May 16, 2016, Head of the LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau, Giorgi Tvauri welcomed Ms. Cari Enav, Director of Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs’ Office of Europe and Asia (INL/EA) of the US Department of State. Within the framework of the visit, Ms. Enav was introduced to the modern equipped labs and novelties established in the Bureau.
The sides discussed ongoing projects and touched upon the plans of future cooperation.
National Forensic Bureau has been actively cooperating with the Embassy of the United States on law enforcement programs for years. The cooperation has largely contributed to the development of the Bureau: the Medical Department and DNA lab of the bureau was renovated and equipped by the financial support of INL. The Bureau has implemented number of key projects in cooperation with INL, including but not limited to rehabilitation and equipping of the Bureau and its labs, as well as, professional capacity building.
With support of INL the Bureau has established a quality monitoring system for the forensic research and consequently gained ISO 17025 accreditation. The Bureau has become a leading institution in the region.
LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau will continue active cooperation with INL in future.
