Chemical-Toxicology Unit of the Forensic Chemical-Narcotic Department of the LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau participates in international qualification tests organized by European Network of Forensic Science Institutes (ENFSI) and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) on annual basis; and maintains leading position.
In January 2016, the Bureau received four samples from the ENFSI Working Group to participate in the annual qualification test. 63 labs across Europe participated in the test.
ENFSI qualification test implied qualitative and quantitative assessment of the unknown drug powder sample. The samples generally include complex mixture, the quantitative assessment of which is related to complex chromatographic studies of the sample. Experts of the Chemical-Toxicology Unit have concluded correct results of composition (Canabis Sativa, Tetrahydrocanabol,  Metamphetamin, Heroine and a new psychotropic essence – AB-CHMINACA)  and their quantitative indicators.
Chemical-Toxicology Unit of the Forensic Chemical-Narcotic Department has been regularly participating in the qualification tests and continues maintaining leading positions. The given tenth tests have again placed the Unit laboratory among leading labs of Europe. Such a success attests high qualifications of the Bureau, and the compliance of applied methodology and equipment in line with international standards.
