ImageOn 20-25 June 2015, Congress of International Society on Thrombosis and Hemostasis was held in Toronto, Canada. Experts of the Forensic Biology Department of LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau Nino Pirtskhelani, Doctor of Medicine, Associated Professor and Ketevan Kartvelishvili, Ph.D. Candidate, participated in the Congress. The Bureau experts presented the results of the Bureau’s research on “Hereditary Thrombophilia – a high risk factor for repeated arbitrary abortions in the population of Georgia” at the Congress. The research co-authors are N. Kochiashvili, Head of the Forensic Biology Department; L. Makhaldiani, Doctor Hematologist and Doctor Angiologists N. Pargalava and M. Bokuchava.
LEPL Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation financed the research and the PHD Research Program.  The research allowed identification of the significant role of inherited thrombophilia in the development of pregnancy pathologies in the Georgian population. The innovative project helps doctors to detect pre-symptomatic diagnostics, develop correct strategy of long-term treatment and provide genetic consultation to patients.
Experts of the Forensic Biology Department of the LEPL Levan Samkharauli Forensic Bureau regularly participate in International Conferences, which enhances their knowledge and qualification.
