In April-May 2015, Head of the Forensic Biology Department of Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau, Nino Kochiashvili was invited to CODIS (DNA-Database) Conference and ENFSI DNA working group meeting in Denmark. ENFSI - European Network of Forensic Science Institutions monitors laboratories of its member forensic institutions from various countries of Europe.
Forensic DNA Department of the Medical Faculty of the Copenhagen University hosted the meeting this year.
In line with the current key challenges of the field throughout Europe –DNA test quality monitoring and need for new guidelines – the working meeting focused on elaborating new recommendations, advancing quality standards, developing new protocol to save time and labor, preventing pollution of evidence or a study sample by foreign DNA, and new directions to deliver more competitive and high qualified testament to the court.
The National Forensics Bureau annually participates in international conferences and working meetings, fully complies with all international standards and remains tuned with scientific achievements of European colleagues.
The National Forensics Bureau hosted the CODIS (DNA-Database) Conference and ENFSI DNA working group meeting last year, wherein the Bureau welcomed 120 European colleagues from 32 countries.
