ImageOn April 27-29, 2015, the National Forensics Bureau welcomed Alexander Gentosh, representative of the world leading Biotechnological company "Thermo Fisher Scientific”, which provides the Bureau with equipment for genetic studies and reactive supplies.  The visit of Mr. Gentosh implied introduction of the new three DNA study sets developed by the company, including but not limited to: "Quantifiler®Trio"; "GlobalFilerTM" and "Yfiler®Plus". "Quantifiler®Trio" is a highly sensitive set to estimate general human and male DNA with improved indicators for qualitative and quantitative estimates. The set differs from the previous ones by advanced precision and sensitivity, which enables experts to identify even least human bio material in a study sample.

"GlobalFilerTM" designed for human autosomal DNA analysis involves all the loci (21 autosomal and at least 3 of male chromosome loci) present in modern international database, including in CODIS systems that are introduced in Georgia as well.  The new set will make DNA profiles obtained in our laboratory far more informative and more efficient for person identification. "Yfiler®Plus" is the latest product to analyze male chromosomes and enables experts to analyze 27 loci of male chromosomes within one reaction. The set is ideal for identifying mixture of biological material of several males and for detecting male indicators in the abundance of female biological material.

Introducing new set for genotyping in the DNA laboratory of the National Forensic Bureau in cooperation with ,, Thermo Fisher Scientific " is a significant step forward, which will enable us to be tuned with international biotechnological innovations and maintain leading position among forerunner laboratories.
