DNA laboratory – accredited by ISO17025- of the Department of Forensic Biology of the LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau passed two international qualification tests (external audit) at the end of 2014: origins of human biomass, DNA outputs and genotyping.
The tests were organized by DNA Profiling Group of the German Forensics Institute (GEDNAP) established in 1980. Today the Institute is known as the German DNA Profile Group and is authorized by the European Network of Forensic Institutions - ENFSI and periodically evaluates the quality of DNA laboratories.
Within the framework of the tests, GEDNAP provided experts with 22 samples, eight of which was a mixed biological material, six of which was a comparison material and eight samples to estimate DNA output.
In March 2015, by a joint decision of the GEDNAP assessment commission, the DNA laboratory of the National Forensics Bureau was grouped among the most successful labs (Group 1) for producing excellent results.
Success of the DNA laboratory reaffirms its leading position among the forerunning European Forensic laboratories.
