ImageForensic Chemical-Toxicology Unit of the Forensic Chemical-Narcotics Department of the LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau annually participates in the qualification tests organized by European Network of Forensic Science Institutions (ENFSI) and the the United Nations Organization for Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and consistently maintains its leading position.

In December 2014, forensic experts of the Bureau received four samples provided by the Drugs Working Group of the European Network of Forensic Science Institutions (ENFSI) for annual qualification test. 62 Laboratories of the European countries participated in this test.

(ENFSI) Qualification test implies estimating the qualitative and quantitative content of narcotic drugs in composition of unknown powders. The test samples are usually of compound mixture, quantitative assessment of which is associated with complicated chromatographic studies. Experts of the Forensic Chemical-Toxicology Unit delivered correct qualitative estimates of the powder (plant Cannabis sativa - hashish (tetrahydrocanabinol), narcotic drugs - amphetamine, cocaine and PVP) and their quantitative estimates.

Based on the statistical assessment of the submitted results, the National Forensics Bureau shares the first place with few other participants.

Forensic Chemical-Toxicology Unit of the LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensics Bureau regularly participates in international qualification tests and maintains its leading position. This year too, the Bureau is placed among few other leading European laboratories, which reaffirms the high qualification of experts, up to date methods and compliance with international standards.
